SupportEd
SupportEd, CSC’s flagship program, serves K-12 students in Douglas County, KS, is an innovative, community-based approach to truancy. Our SupportEd model emphasizes rehabilitation and data-based practices to re-engage truant students, divert families from court involvement, and prevent negative life outcomes. We combine the talents and expertise of diverse partners and collaborators in identifying needs, coordinating services, and implementing interventions to get students back on track toward achieving life success.
We partner with Douglas County Criminal Justice Services-Youth Services (CJS) to implement SupportEd and we collaborate with Douglas County schools, the District Attorney’s Office, Kansas Department for Children and Families, and the District Court.
We implement a functional assessment to determine the root causes of truancy, create an individualized treatment plan, and help families access resources to remove barriers to attendance.
We pair each student with a caring adult mentor who implements interventions, teaches skills, counteracts missed educational and social learning opportunities, creates consistency and structure, bridges communication gaps, and expands opportunities for growth.

School attendance is where we can engage
the whole community in connecting and
understanding.
On average, SupportEd serves 80 students annually and has a 70% success rate. Contact us for help bringing SupportEd to your community.
