Juvenile Justice System
Consultation: Offenders

Aligning with a behavior-analytic framework, CSC’s consultants believe that there is “no such thing as a bad boy, only bad environment, bad modeling, and bad teaching” (Oursler & Oursler, 1949, p. 7), in other words, bad circumstances (Friman, 2021). We ignite compassion for problematic behavior, always viewing it in the context of the person’s life events and immediate environmental circumstances. CSC’s expert consultants work within the juvenile justice system to advance rehabilitative and compassionate behavior-analytic responses to illegal and antisocial behavior while supporting legal personnel, juvenile services officers, juvenile probation officers, case workers, juvenile correctional officers, and law enforcement. We advocate for ethical treatment, design prevention strategies that increase protective factors, and provide education on factors contributing to adolescent criminal behavior such as brain development, adverse childhood events, family history, parenting practices, level of education, peer pressure, and social media.
